Mrs. Louisa M. "Lula" Scarbrough, 96, of 813 Adams, died at 1:34 p.m. Sunday (February 13, 2005) in her home.

Born November 30, 1908 in McKee Township, Adams County, Illinois, Louisa was the daughter of William and Minnie Humke Helmreich. She married Virgil Scarbrough on December 14, 1932 in Quincy. He died July 1, 1983.

Mrs. Scarbrough was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie where she was the oldest member. She loved to sew and work in her garden.

Surviving is a daughter, Verna Scarbrough of Quincy; and many loving nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Scarbrough was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Freida McClain; a brother in infancy, Albert Helmreich; and a niece.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronald Graham. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:30 until 7:00 and Wednesday afternoon until the time of services at the funeral home.
