MARGUERITE E. RUETER

Mrs. Marguerite E. Rueter, 88, of the North Adams Home in Mendon, formerly of 705 Sherwood Drive, died at 5:00 pm, Monday (August 7, 2006) in North Adams Home.

Born April 24, 1918 in Quincy, Marguerite was the daughter of George and Grace McNutt Klarner. She married Earl E. Rueter Sr. on July 26, 1936 in Quincy. Marguerite and Earl celebrated their Goden Anniversary in 1986. They lived for each other and their children. Earl preceded her in death on January 26, 1992.

Marguerite was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. Choosing the life of a homemaker, she was also a cook at the Plaza for many years. She found time for bowling at the Labor Temple, Casino Lanes and South Side Boat Club. and also loved to dance and go fishing with her husband. For many years, she was active with the parent support group of the Flying Dutchman Drum & Bugle Corps, traveling extensively with them. Marguerite was happiest when surrounded by her family.

Survivors include two sons, Earl E. "Skip" Rueter and his wife Barb and William "Bill" Rueter and his wife Sanfra both of Quincy; three daughters, Sherry McMullen and her husband Charles of Quincy, Pamela Zahn and her husband Lewis of Canton, MO. and Marsha Whelan and her husband Steve of Hannibal, MO.; 12 grandchildren, Terri Lynn Spegal and her husband Rob of Campbellsville, KY., Lori Williams and her husband Arlin of Spaulding, IL., Tracy L. Zahn of Mesa, AZ., Luanne Pearl and her husband Richard of Canton, MO., Jay Cookson and his wife Kellie of Hannibal, MO., Steven Rueter and his wife Angie of Marion, IL., Greg Rueter of Bloomington, IL. Karrie Rueter of Springfield, IL. and Robert M. Zahn, Christine Goggins and her husband Nick, Melissa Rueter and Kristofer Rueter and his wife Julie all of Quincy; two step grandchildren, Kim Kirby of Hannibal, MO. and Stephanie Snodgrass and her husband Derrick of Center, MO.; 22 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Van Camp of Quincy; a sister in law, Emmaline Galliher of Rushville, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rueter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Ricky Rueter; and a brother in law, Gerald Van Camp.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenn Leischner. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.
