MARTHA B. DAVIS

Mrs. Martha B. Davis, 105, of the Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Baylis, Illinois, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday (March 2, 2005) in the home.

Born September 28, 1899 in Brown County, Illinois, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of George and Mary McDowell Waters. She married Floyd E. Davis on June 29, 1920 in Brown County. He died May 1, 1985.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the United Brothern Church in Baylis. She enjoyed cooking and raising chickens, but her greatest pleasure came in spending time with her family and friends.

She was employed as a cook for several area restaurants until her retirement in 1961.

Survivors include a son, Harry Walter Davis and his wife Esther of Pittsfield; two daughters, Lucille Morris of Clarksville, MO. and Mary Anna Cole of Baylis; a son in law, John Noble of Clarksville, MO.; seven grandchildren; fifteen step grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Nellie Mae Noble; a son in law, George Morris; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Waters and Loren Waters; and a sister, Emma Ausmus.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by the Rev. Lyle Dean Bullard. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Fishook, IL.

Visitation will be Sunday from 11:30 until the time of services at the funeral home in Quincy.
