MARTY E. GARKIE

Marty E. Garkie, 49, of 2061 Lind died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (April 23, 2008) in his home.

Born September 2, 1958 in Quincy, Marty was the son of Paul E. and Luetta Harrison Garkie.

Marty was a member of Madison Park Christian Church, Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory, National Rifle Association and the Union Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing golf and especially enjoyed being a Quincy United Soccer Father.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Marty was employed for 22 years at Ameren as a journeyman lineman and most recently as a utility man.

Survivors include his mother, Luetta Garkie of Quincy; a son, Denver Garkie of Quincy; a daughter, Marjean Garkie of Quincy; three brothers, Kenneth Garkie and his wife Bonnie of LaGrange, MO., Robert Garkie and his wife Leann of Quincy and Rob Garkie and his wife Tina of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Garkie was preceded in death by his father, Paul Garkie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Chuck Sackett. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the children's educational fund.
