MARY LOU SPIDLE SCHLIPMAN

Mrs. Mary Lou Spidle Schlipman, 72, of 527 Broadway, formerly of 414 Oak, died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday (February 2, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.

Born August 14, 1933 in Quincy, Mary Lou was the daughter of Louis and Norma Wolbrink Spidle. She was married to Gottlieb "Gabby" Goudschaal who preceded her in death. She later married Joe Schlipman who preceded her in death.

Mary Lou was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Quincy Blue Devil fan.

Mary Lou and her husband Gabby owned and operated several bars and grills in the Quincy and Golden area. She later helped her brother, Jim, operate Isa & Isabelle's for 20 years until her retirement in 1996.

Surviving is her mother, Norma Mixer of Quincy; a brother, Jim Spidle and his companion Peggy of Quincy; a sister, Phyllis Johnson and her husband Richard of Colorado; a grandson, J. J. Goudschaal of Springfield, IL.; a step granddaughter, Nicole Cook of Quincy; a daughter in law, Sherry Norman and her husband Don of Quincy; two special nieces, Deeanna Baird and her husband Jeff and Julie Goehl and her husband Mike both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews in Colorado.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father; a son, Stephen Kent Goudschaal, paternal grandmother, Fannie Spidle; an Uncle, Glen Scharnhorst; two Aunts, Isa Scharnhorst and Velma Crowley; a cousin, Leaton Cobb; and two cousins who were raised with her as sisters, Doris Chambers and Joan Higham.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Rains. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.
