MATILDA JONES

Mrs. Matilda Jones, 95, of Good Samaritan Home, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday (December 26, 2005) in the home.

Born July 29, 1910 in Quincy, Matilda was the daughter of Joseph J. and Ruth R. Green Mehaffy. She married James R. Jones Sr. on November 13, 1938 in Canton, MO. He died July 11, 1978.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Madison Park Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and doing crafts.

Surviving are two sons, James R. Jones Jr. and his wife Nellie of Quincy and Robert L. Jones of Tunica, MS.; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; one brother, Emmett Mehaffy of St. Louis, MO.; one sister, LaVeta Laird of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Robert Lee Jones Jr. and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Mehaffy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Keith Ehresman. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
