MATTHEW N. "MATT" CANNELL

Matthew N. "Matt" Cannell, 81, of 2308 Harrison, died at 6:04 a.m. Tuesday (October 11, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born December 29, 1923 in Mendon, IL., Matt was the son of Charles and Etta Jenkins Cannell. He married Verna Bradbury on March 21, 1948 in Perry, IL. She survives.

Matt was a member of Union United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Mendon High School and enjoyed gardening and traveling. He especially loved to tinker and work with his hands.

Mr. Cannell farmed all his life in Adams, IL. retiring about ten years ago.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Cannell and his wife Jean of Kansas City North, MO. and Rodney Cannell and his wife Carol of Quincy; his daughter, Teresa Short and her husband Michael of Kansas City, MO.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Henry Cannell and his wife Vivian of Mendon, IL.; and one sister, Vada Decker of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in Union United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Morwell. Burial will be in Burton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Friday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.

Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the church following the services.
