
NORMA M. SAEGER
Mrs. Norma M. Saeger, 81, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2505 Oak, died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday (July 10, 2005) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born May 10, 1924 near Fowler, Norma was the daughter of John William and Fern Margaret Henstein Degitz. She married Kenneth E. Saeger on December 2, 1944 in Salem Church in Quincy and celebrated 60 years of marriage last December. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2005.
Norma was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was active with the Undershepherds and greeters, a 50 year member of Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star and was a past president of the Rainbow Girls Mother's Circle and the DeMolay Mother's Circle. She enjoyed Blue Devil and Illini basketball and watching birds at her bird feeder. Norma loved her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren.
Norma worked at the International Shoe Factory until their closing and then in the tea room of Halbach-Schroeder until her marriage. She also was a Republican election judge for many years.
Surviving is a daughter, Charolette Meyer and her husband Jim of Fowler; a son, John W. Saeger and his wife Lynn of Hattiesburg, MS.; five grandchildren, J. Ian Meyer of Urbana, IL. and his girlfriend Brandy Snook of Decatur, IL., Justin Meyer of Fowler and his fiance' Ashley Klinginsmith of Liberty, IL., Jason Saeger and Abby Saeger both of Ottumwa, IA. and Corrie Saeger of Ft. Madison, IA.; a sister, Evelyn Mitchell and her husband James of Springfield, IL.; a brother in law, Frank Saeger and his wife Arlene of Quincy; two sisters in law, Irene Hunter of Fenton, MO. and Lucille Dearwester of Paloma, IL.; extra special neighbors, Margie and Leon Giles; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her beloved dog, Missy and granddog Patches.
Mrs. Saeger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers in law, William Saeger, Harold Saeger, George Hunter and Monte Dearwester; and two sisters in law, Wilma Saeger and Arlene Saeger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. Alpha Chapter 109 O. E. S. will conduct services Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the funeral home.
