OPAL P. ALLEN

Miss Opal P. Allen, 90, of the Sycamore Health Care Centre, formerly of 826 Adams, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday (August 3, 2007) in the home.

Born April 24, 1917 in Mendon, Illinois, Opal was the daughter of John and Clara Rook Allen.

Opal was of the Methodist Faith and worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for many years. Opal loved to care for others, especially children, and raised two nieces, Linda and Lori and a nephew Terry in her home.

Survivors include 12 nieces, Linda Hebson and her husband Steven of Morton Grove, IL., Lori Dorsey-Obert of Quincy, Karen Hittner, Camilla Teel and her husband Joe and Mariska Teel all of Barry, IL., Cheynne Obert, Taylor Obert, and Dorothy Brown and her husband Clifford all of Quincy, Nicole Hebson of Morton Grove, IL., Ivy Jenkins of St. Petersburg, FL., Bonita Hemming and her husband Stephen of Melbourne, FL. and Cheri Dampier of Valdosta, GA.; 14 nephews, Terry Jenkins and his wife Peggy of St. Petersburg, FL., Fred Allen, Ted Allen, Mike Allen and Denny Allen all of Coatsburg, IL., Steven Manion, Ryan Manion, Tyler Obert and Casey Adair all of Quincy, Clint Hittner and his wife Kristina of Alabama, Justin Jenkins of St. Petersburg, FL. and Albert Grossman and his fiance' Rhonda Brown, Joseph Grossman and Country Grossman all of Stillwell, IL.; two sisters in law, June Allen and Dorothy Allen both of Quincy; and many loving great nieces and great nephews.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roy Allen, Harry Allen and Walter Allen; and four sisters, Mildred Allen in infancy, Hazel Adair, Ola Miller and Wilma Allen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Entombment will be in the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
