
ROBERT LEON OLSON
Mr. Robert Leon Olson, 82, of 2935 Bluff Ridge Drive, Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Good Hope, Illinois, died at 5:10 p.m., Sunday (May 29, 2005) in his home.
Born December 13, 1922 in LaHarpe, Illinois, Mr. Olson was the son of Oscar and Clarice Hainline Olson. He married Elizabeth Newman on January 6, 1949 in Carthage, Illinois. She survives.
Mr. Olson was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Macomb and the Sciota I.O.O.F. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and was a scout leader in Good Hope and served as a Republican Committeeman in McDonough County for many years.
Mr. Olson owned and operated the Olson Oil Company in Macomb for 15 years. He later was employed by Nickson Oil & Tire in Macomb and then at McDonough Power Cooperative until his retirement in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Quincy; a son, Alan Olson and his wife Sharon of Quincy; three grandchildren, Jessi Olson of Quincy, Serra Fox of Sacramento, CA., and Joshua Fox and his wife Melissa of St. Charles, MO.; two great grandchildren, Peige Fox and Savannah Fox both of St. Charles, MO.; two brothers, Harold Olson and his wife Kathryn of Macomb and Galen Olson and his wife Barb of Good Hope; a sister in law, Madeline Olson of Macomb; a niece, Vicki Duba of Jamestown, N. Y.; and five nephews, Jack Olson and his wife Darla of Green Valley, IL. and Carl Newman and his wife Sharon, Ronnie Newman, Charlie Newman and his wife Monica and Chris Newman all of Dallas City, IL.
Mr. Olson was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Olson.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Good Hope Cemetery by the Rev. Joshua Fox.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State St. Quincy, IL. 62301 is in charge of the arrangements.
