
RALPH PLAWER
Mr. Ralph Plawer, 77, of 833 Boy Scout Road, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday (January 2, 2006) in his home.
Born June 12, 1928 in Quincy, Ralph was the son of Henry and Annetta Fink Plawer. He married Nona L. Powell on September 18, 1948 in Quincy. She survives.
Ralph was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Quarter Century Club of Gardner-Denver and a life member of South Side Boat Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler and loved being outdoors working in his many different gardens.
Ralph was employed at Gardner-Denver for 38 years, retiring as the Plant Manager.
Survivors include his wife, Nona; a son, Lt. Col. Henry Plawer of Springfield, currently serving with his Illinois National Guard unit in Iraq; two daughters, Annette Smith and her husband Darwin and Senior Master Sgt. Betsy Powell, (Ret.) both of Quincy; a daughter in law, Wanda Plawer of Fithian, IL.; nine grandchildren, Amanda Sperry and her husband Greg of Fithian, IL., Dr. Miriah Plawer of Chicago, IL., Adam Plawer of Fithian, IL., Byron Smith, Andrew Smith and Zachary Smith all of Quincy, Coriann Lyssy and her husband Benny of San Antonio, TX., Cassandra Powell of Dallas, TX. and Candice Powell of San Antonio, TX.; four great grandchildren, Reed Sperry, Sean Lyssy, Riley Lyssy and Delayla Powell; three sisters, Jacobi Schnelle of Quincy, Klasine Ira of Omaha, NE. and Henrietta Stone of Galesburg, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Plawer was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brian Plawer.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
