ALBERT W. "RED" GRAVITT

Mr. Albert W. "Red" Gravitt, 58, of 1317 N. 6th St., died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday (April 11, 2006) in Blessing Hosptial.

Born August 20, 1947 in Quincy, Red was the son of Martin L. and Dora A. Gordy Gravitt.

Red was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed collecting knives, canes and Nascar memorabilia. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Red loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them.

Red was employed in the Fabrication Department at Knapheide Manufacturing. He greatly appreciated everyone at Knapheide's for all they did for him throughout his illness.

Survivors include three sons, Albert "Rudy" Gravitt II of Norfolk, VA., Tyler Gravitt and Christopher Gravitt both of Quincy; two daughters, Tammara Gravitt and Angela Cramsey and her husband Greg both of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Gabe, Ashley, Gavin, Dora, Cassie, Christopher, Zeke and Abby; three brothers, Marvin Gravitt and his wife Tammy of Phoenix, AZ., George "Butch" Gravitt and his wife Nancy of Clarksville, TN. and Leroy Pollock of Quincy; two sisters, Jo Schaffer and her husband Gerald of Quincy and Marsha Hamilton and her husband John of Loraine; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gravitt was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother in infancy, Martin Gravitt Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Fuenral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00 to 6:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
