Mr. Richard D. Collins, 70, of Payson, died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday (July 15, 2007) in his home.
Born September 21, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, Richard was the son of Roy L. and Violet Mable Tibbits Collins. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Pleasant. She survives.
Richard graduated Quincy High School in 1953 and attended Quincy College. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri - Rolla. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, and gardening. He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Collins was employed in the engineering department at Gardner Denver from 1960 until his retirement in 1993 and was also a member of the Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club.
Also surviving are two sons, Shawn Collins and his wife Tina of Truro, IA. and Todd Collins and his wife Julie of Monticello, MO.; a daughter, Dawnell Spilker and her husband Theodore of Lemoore, CA.; four grandchildren, Zachary Spiker and Austin Spilker, both of Lemoore, CA. and Grant Collins and Kelcie Collins, both of Truro, IA.; two sisters, Delta Walton Wiegmann and her husband Henry of Quincy and Phyllis Pleasant and her husband Harry Dean of Lincoln, NE.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy E. Collins and an infant brother, Paul C. Collins.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Larry Connour. Burial will be in
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
