RICHARD L. LEEZY

Mr. Richard LaVerne Leezy, 77, of 2002 N. 200th Ave., Plainville, Illinois, died at 8:07 p.m. Sunday (March 20, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 15, 1928 in East St. Louis, Illinois, Mr. Leezy was the son of Clyde and Cecelia Auer Leezy. He married Melba Corey on January 5, 1949 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She survives.

Mr. Leezy was an avid fisherman and loved to collect arrowheard, go camping with his family and friends and work outdoors in his garden. He was a devoted family man who will be greatly missed.

Mr. Leezy was a driver for McNay Truck Line for many years, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Melba; four sons, Richard Leezy and his wife Carolyn of Hannibal, MO., Ronald Leezy of Belleville, IL., Michael Leezy of Plainville, IL. and Terry Leezy and his wife Cindy of Collinsville, IL.; four daughters, Mary Ellen Sawyers and her husband Cleveland and Gloria Leezy both of Plainville, IL., Jeannie Unglesbee and her husband Kenny of Quincy and Tina Ratliff and her husband Paul of Clarence, MO.; 14 grandchildren, Cleveland "Butch" Sawyers II and Robin Kennedy and her husband Dewitt both of Largo, FL., Rod Sawyers and his wife Tiffany and Luke Unglesbee and his wife Laura both of Payson, IL., Kenneth Unglesbee and his wife Sudaka of Ewing, MO., Catina Gibbons and her husband Shawn of Herrin, IL., Ronald Leezy and his wife Jennifer of Bowling Green, KY., Christopher Leezy and his wife Amy and Courtney Leezy both of Belleville, IL., Tiffany Leezy of Clarence, MO., Donnie Collins III of Plainville, IL., and Mindy Holt and her husband Jason, T. J. Leezy and Tonya Leezy all of Collinsville, IL.; 17 great grandchildren, Crystal Kennedy, Michael Sawyers, Anthony Sawyers, Amber Sawyers, Mackenzie Sawyers, Justin Sheffler, Ashley Sheffler, Autumn Sheffler, Kylee Unglesbee, Keria Unglesbee, Ryley Unglesbee, Jason Holt, Tyler Leezy, Michael Leezy, Ethan Leezy, Parker Leezy and Maddy Leezy; a brother, Ray Leezy and his wife Helen of Washington Park, IL.; two sisters, Helen Steinhower of TX., and Pearl Matt of Belleville, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Leezy was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Anita Lynn Leezy; a son, Charles Anthony Leezy; four brothers, Buddy, Bob, Jimmy and Marvin Leezy; and three sisters, Betty Jean Leezy, Doris Firpo and Deloris Jarrett.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by the Rev. Ron Cox. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery near Plainville.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home in Quincy.
