RICHARD E. PYLE

Mr. Richard E. Pyle, 79, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Alton and Clayton, died at 1:00 p.m. Friday (November 25, 2005) at the home.

Born April 24, 1926 in Harrisburg, Illinois, Richard was the son of Audie and Lilly Pyle.

Richard was of the protestant faith. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in Iwo Jima. He later joined the U. S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.

Richard was employed at the Laclede Steel Mill in Alton for several years.

He was the last of his family. He is survived by dear friends, Teri Owens, Bonnie Holt, Kathryn Harmon and her children, Matthew Harmon and his fiance', Jennifer Lankey, Christopher Harmon and Amie Harmon, and Matthew's children, David, Destinee and Dallis Harmon, who put a sparkle in his eye when they were together.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home by the Rev. John Adams.

There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
