
ROBERT J. AMES
Mr. Robert J. Ames, 79, of 504 Harrison, died at 8:23 a.m. Sunday (July 22, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born December 24, 1927 in Quincy, Bob was the son of Louis and Mary Ames. He married Twila M. Hester on January 9, 1955 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1991.
Mr. Ames was served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He was an avid Cub fan and enjoyed watching all sports.
Mr. Ames was employed as a painter for the Quincy Housing Authority for many years until his retirement. He previously was employed as a plasterer for various contractors in the Quincy area.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Ames and Diana Stathem and her husband Mark both of Quincy and Linda Taber of Tacoma, WA.; four sons, Dennis Taber and his wife Sherry, Kevin Taber and his wife Shelia, Robbie Taber and his wife Gina and Roy Gallaher all of Quincy; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister in law, Norma Ames of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ames was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Byrl Ames; and a sister Mary Stroup.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. John Adams. Military Honors will be conducted by Quincy American Legion Post 37.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
