Mr. Bob Chatten, 78, of 3728 North 12th, died at 11:55 a.m.Saturday (December 18, 2004) in Sycamore Health Care Centre.
Born April 29, 1926 in Quincy, Bob was the son of Glen and Edith McIntyre Chatten. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Kurz on November 24, 1949 in Quincy. She survives.
Bob was a member of the North Side Businessmen's Association and a life member of Twin Oaks. He was an independent hail damage adjustor and created the formula used by insurance companies to assess hail damage. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Mr. Chatten was the owner and operator of Bob Chatten GMC at 48th and Broadway and also owned and operated Bob's Apple Land Orchard. He retired in 1996 from Adams F.S. Orchard Products Division.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Zelle and her husband Brad and Ann Cadwallader and her husband Bill, both of Quincy; three sons, Jeff Chatten of Jefferson City, MO., and Guy Chatten and Craig Chatten and his wife Kandy, all of Quincy; eleven grandchildren, Jason Chatten, Daryl Chatten, Jessie Chatten, Gabrial Chatten, Katie Simmons, Ruby Wingerter, Christian Wingerter, Melissa Wingerter, Robert Chatten, Andrea Chatten and Jewel Chatten; and one sister, Betty Dooley of Davenport, IA.
Mr. Chatten was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites were accorded to Mr. Chatten. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
