ROBERT M. FINLEY JR.

Robert M. Finley Jr., 80, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 1812 Hilltop Dr., died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday (March 22, 2008) in the home.

Born June 8, 1927 in Tolona, MO, Robert was the son of Robert and Clara Kackley Finley. He married Patricia "Pat" Behrendt on November 9, 1949 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2007.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was a member of the North Side Boat Club, a 49 year member of Herman Masonic Lodge #39 and the Quarter Century Club at Gardner- Denver.

Mr. Finley was employed at Gardner Denver for 38 years retiring as a supervisor in 1983.

Survivors include a son, David W. Finley and his wife Laura of St. Louis, MO; a daughter, Roberta L. Cooper and her husband John of Silex, MO; five grandchildren, David W. Finley Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Collinsville, IL, Shannon Christen and his wife Kelly of St. Peters, MO, Adam Christen of Pacific, MO, Curtis Christen of Kansas City, MO and Devon Christen of Ocala, FL; six great grandchildren; a sister Bernetha Layman of Quincy; and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Finley was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters, Becky Williams and Louise Finley.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran's Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial with Military Honors by Payson VFW Post #2061 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the All Faiths Chapel.

Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
