ROBERT "BOB" STEVENSON

Mr. Robert N. "Bob" Stevenson, 73, of 2938 Hampshire, Quincy, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (June 14, 2009) in his home.

Born February 13, 1936 in Chariton, Iowa, Bob was the son of Charles R. and Mildred Duncan Stevenson. He married Roberta R. Claussen on August 4, 1962 in Quincy. She survives.

Bob was an active member of Emmanual Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed music and studying American History, especially the Civil War era. Family always came first for Bob and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Stevenson was a graduate of Chariton High School and received his Bachelors Degree at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois. He earned his Masters Degree at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State) in Kirksville, Missouri and began his teaching career in 1962 at Mendon Junior High School. In 1964 he began teaching with the Quincy Public Schools and taught 6th Grade at Washington School until his retirement in 1984. He later worked at Con Agra Frozen Foods in Macon, Missouri until his retirement in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta; three sons, David Stevenson and his wife Kimberly of Shelbyville, MO, Gary Stevenson and his wife Kettrin of Olathe, KS and Rick Stevenson and his wife Lisa of Shelbyville, MO; seven grandchildren, Caitlyn Stevenson, Connor Stevenson and Cooper Stevenson all of Shelbyville, MO, Colter Stevenson and Garret Stevenson both of Olathe, KS and Levi Stevenson and Caden Stevenson both of Shelbyville, MO; and several cousins.

Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Quincy.

Graveside services will be Thursday afternoon at 3:00 in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shelbyville, Missouri.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Thursday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene.
