ROBERT "BOB" TIPTON

Robert "Bob" Tipton, 70, of 3511 South 46th St., died at 11:07 p.m. Thursday January 10, 2008) in the home of his son Rob Tipton.

Born June 3, 1937 in New Canton, Bob was the son of Robert E. and Mildred Ross Tipton. He married Mary Ellen Cookson on January 25, 1960 in Keokuk, IA. She survives.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of West Pike High School and a graduate of Springfield Barber College. He was active at his church serving as Sunday School Superintendent and the Board of Elders for several years. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and played on different Army basketball teams.

He and his father operated the Town and Country Barber Shop from 1960 until 1970. He was also employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1966 until his retirement in 1999. Since 1982 he was a representative for the Ozark National Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include a son, Rob Tipton and his wife Naomi of Quincy; a daughter Tammie Cramm and her husband Kevin of Mendon; and three grandchildren, Typhanie Koenig and her husband Brad of Mendon, Amanda Stotts and her husband Ragan of Golden, Jessica Cramm of Mendon and Andrew Tipton of Quincy, five great grandchildren, Abbie Koenig and Gavin Koenig both of Mendon, and Isaac Stotts, Journey Stotts and Dylan Stotts all of Golden; and several cousins.

Mr. Tipton was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church by the Rev. Larry Troxel. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the church.
