ROBERT W. TWADDLE
Mr. Robert W. Twaddle, 89, of Sunset Home, died at 4:10 p.m. Saturday (February 2, 2008) in Sunset Home.
Born January 6, 1919 in Plymouth, Illinois, Bob was the son of Perry and Ethel Clark Twaddle. He married Hazel L. Slade on June 8, 1946 in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Twaddle served his country in the U.S. Army with the 730th Railway Battalion stationed for 32 months in the Persian Gulf during WW II. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post 37 and was a life member of the North Side Boat Club. Bob was an avid sportsman and a Die Hard Cub Fan and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop.
Mr. Twaddle was employed for over 25 years as the Assistant Supervisor of Maintainence and Custodians for the Quincy Public Schools until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a daughter, Carol Moore and her husband Alan of Quincy; a daughter in law, Donna Twaddle of Aiken, S.C.; three grandchildren, Alan Moore II and his fiance' Trish Kelly of Mooresville, IN., Robert Twaddle II and his wife Chrissy of Wesson, MS. and Shane Michael Twaddle of Aiken, S.C.; five great grandchildren, Cody Moore, Hanna Moore, Ashlee Twaddle, Elizabeth Twaddle and Kaleb Twaddle; a brother, Dean Twaddle and his wife Marjorie of Cedar Rapids, IA.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Twaddle was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Twaddle II; three brothers, Nial Twaddle, Olaf Twaddle and George Twaddle; and five sisters, Faye Mayes, Virginia Seckman, Ruby Hoover, Mabel Blunck and June Savage.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Bruce Willard. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Dialysis Unit or Sunset Home in Bob's memory.
