ROBERTA D. "BIRDIE" GARVIN
Mrs. Roberta D. "Birdie" Garvin, 59, of 710 South 16th, died at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday (February 5, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.
Born December 11, 1948 in Quincy, Birdie was the daughter of Harvey and Virginia Mast Dittmer. She married Paul E. Garvin on September 17, 1988 in Havelock, North Carolina. He survives.
Birdie was a member of Madison Park Christian Church where she was active with the Cancer Support Group. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, needlepoint and collectibles.
Mrs. Garvin served her country in the U. S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. She was employed as an aircraft electrician for 33 years at M.C.A.S. in Cherry Point, North Carolina. She retired in 2004 when she and Paul moved back to Quincy.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; her mother, Virginia Dittmer of Quincy; a step daughter, Jessica Lambert; three step grandchildren, Brittany Harrison, Zachary Harrison and Cory Harrison; three sisters, Mary Southard and her husband Gary of Coral Springs, FL., Donna Dittmer of Jennings, MO. and Annette Schoenberger and her husband Dick of St. Cloud, MN.; three brothers, Greg Dittmer and his wife Dianne of Payson, and Thomas Dittmer and Philip Dittmer both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Garvin was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Dittmer.
Cremation rites have been accorded to Mrs. Garvin. A memorial service will be held Friday evening at 7:00 in Madison Park Christian Church by Chuck Sackett.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 until the time of service at 7:00 in Madison Park Christian Church.
The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
