
RUSSELL CHAPMAN
Mr. Russell "Chappie" Chapman, 81, of Sycamore Health Care Centre, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday (June 3, 2005) in the home.
Born March 9, 1924 in Quincy, Russell was the son of Granville Chapman and Katherine Schwindler Mason. He married Anna M. Allen on November 3, 1946 in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Chapman was a member of the Wenois Archery Club and the National Field Archery Association. He was a member of the Tri State Blue Grass Association and played the mandolin. He enjoyed flying airplanes, fishing, canoeing, swimming and doing crafts. He was an aircraft and engine mechanic in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Chappie began his career in 1962 as an employee of Bell Echo Metal Products, Inc. He continued on as the Company became Moorman's Livestock Equipment Division and worked in the Fabrication Department his entire career retiring April 19, 1985.
Also surviving are two daughters, Katherine Chapman of Quincy and Carolyn Powers and her husband Ronald of Palatine, IL.; five grandchildren, Veronica Wendrick and her husband Jeffrey of Wadsworth, IL., Kristina Powers and Kimberly Powers of Palatine, IL., and Gary Chapman and Brenda Merkel and her husband Jeffery of Quincy; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and Gary Chapman; three sisters, Viola Stormer, Flora Price and Margaret Koch; and five brothers, Virgil, Marcus, Pete, Milo and Melvin Chapman.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Tom Waters. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Sycamore Health Care Centre.
