RUSSELL G. SCHUTTE

Mr. Russell G. Schutte, 84, of 2329 S. 12th, died at 6:04 a.m. Saturday (January 28, 2006) in his home.

Born December 26, 1921 in Quincy, Russ was the son of William and Matilda Holtman Schutte. He married Marjorie McGlaughlin on November 9, 1946 in Palmyra, Missouri. She died in 1968. He married Marian R. Kroner on December 28, 1968 in St. Mary's Church in Quincy. She survives.

Russ was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, a life member of South Side Boat Club, Associated General Contractors of Quincy, South Side Commercial Club, Quincy American Legion Post 37 and a past member of Carpenters Local #189. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during WW II, receiving three Bronze Battle Stars in the New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago and South Philippines campaigns.

Russ owned and operated the Russ Schutte Construction Company for almost 50 years, retiring in 1984. Among the many projects his company was involved with were, Salem and Trinity Churches, Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson and Duker & Haugh Funeral Homes, Tony's Old Place, Gardner-Denver, South Side Boat Club and many area school buildings.

Surviving is his wife Marian; three daughters, Linda Vandiver and her husband Bill of Warrenton, MO., Peggy Schoenekase and her husband Roger and Jackie Peters and her husband Karl both of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Michelle Ericson and her husband Kyle of St. Charles, MO., Eric Vandiver and his wife Michele of St. Peters, MO., Nicole Vandiver of St. Charles, MO., Kevin Schoenekase of Quincy, Kimberly O'Leary and her husband Sean of Chicago, IL., Carrie Anderson and her husband Paul of Canton, MO. and Chad Uplinger and his fiance' Tracy of Quincy; eleven great grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Alexis, Matthew, Devin, Katelynn, Chase, Garrett, McKenna, Camden and Robbie; three brothers, Lester Schutte and his wife Irene and Harold Schutte and his wife Betty both of Quincy and Richard Schutte and his wife Erma of New Canton, IL.; a sister, Lillian Lear of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schutte was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Junior Schutte.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
