Mrs. Ruth J. Ayers, 88, of the Sycamore Health Care Center, formerly of 527 Broadway, Quincy, died at 6:19 pm Tuesday (December 22, 2009) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 11, 1921 in Springfield, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of William and Dorothy Hancock Drake. She married Robert J. Ayers who preceded her in death on May 5, 1986.

Ruth was employed as a waitress in various restaurants in Springfield.

Surviving is a granddaughter, Stephanie Schuler of Quincy.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.

There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
