SHERRY D. YOUNG

Sherry D. Young, 57, of 700 Payson Ave., died at 12:20 a.m., Tuesday (February 19, 2008) in her home after a long battle with cancer.

Born February 11, 1951 in Quincy, Sherry was the daughter of William "Bill" and Julia "Jackie" Wingerter Platt Sr. She married Chester Young on June 4, 1994 in Quincy. He survives.

Sherry enjoyed cooking for her family, collecting knick knacks, playing pool, dancing and taking care of her cat Bootsy.

Survivors also include, her mother Julia "Jackie" Rink of Quincy; a son, Rusty Jones of Quincy; two daughters Shawna Palmer of Columbia, MO and Susan Weed of Levittown, PA; a step son Eddie Young of Quincy; two step daughters Judy Saunders and Chris Young both of Keokuk, IA; five grandchildren Brianna Jones of Quincy, Laken & Brent Weed of Levittown, PA, Jayden and Kaylee Palmer both of Columbia,MO; three step grandchildren Brandi, Mia and Emma Young all of Quincy; three step great grandchildren Eleni and Cassandra Saunders and Leslie Young all of Keokuk, IA; two sisters Susie Hampton and her husband Tod of Jackson, MO and Lori Spilker and her husband Rob of Fowler; three brothers Joe Platt of Quincy, David Platt of Maywood, MO, and Jamie Platt of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her father, a sister Debra "Debbie" Bias, a nephew Jacob Platt and a step grandson Matthew Thomas Young.

Cremation rites were accorded to Mrs. Young. Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard Martin.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of the services at the funeral home.
