SHIRLEY JACKSON

Mrs. Shirley J. Jackson, 76, of 1524 State, died at 1:24 a.m. Saturday (November 10, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.

Born August 16, 1931 in Quincy, Shirley was the daughter of Ray and Ethel Bartelt Spilker. She married Robert L. "Bob" Jackson on October 16, 1949 at a garden wedding at her parents home in Quincy. He survives.

Shirley was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where she served on the Church Council, as a Senior High Youth Leader, as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and was Past President of the Women's Guild. She was also active with the Salem Choirsters, Couple's Club, Vacation Bible School and the hospital visitor and adopt-a-friend programs. Shirley was also a member of the Christian Women's Club, Traveling Trompers Square Dance, Camper Stampers, TOPS and PTA. Shirley enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, cooking, camping and her daily devotionals.

Shirley was employed at Moorman's Manufacturing, J. C. Penney and the Community Couseling Center. She also decorated cakes from her home for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; two daughters, Rev. Pam Koebel and her husband Rev. Keith of Whitehall, MI. and Barbara Edwards and her husband Mike of Quincy; two sons, Mark Jackson and his wife Toni and Steven Jackson both of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Christopher Koebel and his wife Brianne, Elizabeth Koebel, Michelle Koebel, Emily Koebel, Kristi Edwards, Katie Edwards, Cassie Edwards, Marcus Jackson and Paige Jackson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, David Matthew Edwards; a granddaughter, Alexandra Marie Jackson; a sister, Ethel Lee Bliven; and a brother, Wesley Spilker.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the Salem Church.
