SONNY NELSON

Mr. Arthur A. "Sonny" Nelson Sr., 70, of Quincy, died at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday (August 30, 2006) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born July 7, 1936 in Wisconsin, Sonny was the son of Arthur Nelson and Althea Cate Siegel Hudson. He married Rebecca Williams on March 2, 1962 in Quincy. She survives.

Sonny enjoyed trap shooting, racing and having a good time with family and friends.

Mr. Nelson currently owned and operated the Nelson Concrete Construction Company in Quincy. He previously was employed as a draftsman for Gardner-Denver Inc. and owned S & D Motorcycles and Nelson's Brake Shop.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; two daughters, Tracy Williams of Quincy and Bridget Bliss and her husband Tony of Camp Point, IL.; a son, Arthur Nelson Jr. of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Dustin Williams, Justin Casey, Anthony Bliss, Zachary Bliss, Cory Williams, Heather Williams and Gabby Bliss; a sister, Nancy Vandiver of Jacksonville, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; and his step father, Chester Hudson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bryan Meado. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
