
SUSAN JEAN PARKMAN
Ms. Susan Jean Parkman, 83, of Quincy, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday (November 4, 2005) in her home.
Born June 7, 1922 in Aledo, Illinois, Susan was the daughter of Macy and Jean Emerson Parkman.
Susan was of the Presbyterian Faith. She was a graduate of Moline High School, Moline Business College and the San Francisco Art Institute. She was active in the Quincy Humane Society and the Illinois Municipal League and worked as a volunteer at the Gardner Museum and at the Quincy Art Center.
She was employed as a secretary in the Engineering Department for the City of Quincy from 1977 until 1988. She was also secretary to the managing Editor of The Wall Street Journal Pacific Coast Edition for many years. Susan had also served as personal secretary to Jimmy Hoffa in the West Coast Offices and as secretary for the Wester Conference of the Teamsters in San Francisco, CA.
Surviving is her brother, E. Conrad Parkman of Bangkhen, Bangkok, Thailand and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 in Aledo, Illinois Cemetery by Rev. Carl Stoldt.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 until 1:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.
