
THELMA V. JOHNSON
Mrs. Thelma V. Johnson, 89, of Maple Lawn Nursing Home, formerly of Hull, died at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday (November 14, 2006) in the home.
Born March 20, 1917 in Barry, Illinois, Thelma was the daughter of Charles Berni and Orpha Leona Shehan Hoskins. She married Edgar R. Johnson on August 30, 1934 in Vandalia, Missouri. He survives.
Thelma was a member and church historian of Hull United Methodist Church. She had served as Past Worthy Matron and Secretary of the New Canton Order of Eastern Star #215 and the Hull Order of Eastern Star #545 and is currently a member of Pittsfield Order of Eastern Star #195. She was over a 50 year charter member and officer of the Pike County Extention and a 4-H leader. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking, cake decorating and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also surviving is her son, Eddie R. Johnson and his wife Betty of Hull; two grandchildren, Mark Johnson and his wife Teresa of Cambridge, IL. and Brenda Mowen and her husband Bill of Payson; six great grandchildren, Melissa Johnson-Olson and her husband Dusty of Geneseo, IL., Michael Johnson and Mathew Johnson, both of Cambridge, IL., McKenzie Mowen of Quincy, and Lindsey Mowen and Evan Mowen, both of Payson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Olive Donaldson and Eva Edmiston; and four brothers, Charles, William, Donald and John Hoskins.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Hull United Methodist Church by Rev. Patsy Kelly. Burial will be in the Kinderhook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Pittsfield Order of Eastern Star #195 will conduct services at 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Hull United Methodist Church.
