THELMA L. PHILLIPS
Mrs. Thelma L. Phillips, 84, of 3004 College, died at 5:20 a.m. Monday (January 29, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born October 22, 1922 in Knox County, Missouri, Thelma was the daughter of Harry and Ruth Fox McCabe. She married Elliott E. Phillips on December 21, 1939 in Edina, MO. He died September 3, 1996.
Mrs. Phillips was a charter member and helped build Faith Christian Church where she was active with the Jolly Seniors. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and the DeMolay Mother's Club. Thelma loved reading and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. She was a loving person and enjoyed helping others.
Thelma was employed as the manager of the Carson Pirie Scott Beauty Shop for several years. After the birth of her son, she opened Thelma's Beauty Shop in her home retiring in 1980.
Surviving is her son, Randy Phillips and Marcy Inman of Camp Point, and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Eva Ohnemus; and her brother, Robert McCabe.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Henry Pratt. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Faith Christian Church or the Jolly Seniors.
