VERA M. USHERWOOD
Mrs. Vera M. Usherwood, 78, of 2908 Spring, formerly of Griggsville, Illinois, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday (October 27, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born Feburary 27, 1929 in Griggsville, Illinois, Vera was the daughter of Rhea and Burreba Dorsey Hanlin. She married Howard V. Usherwood on June 14, 1946 in Pittsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1993.
Mrs. Usherwood was a member of Madison Park Christian Church. She loved to read the Bible and was involved in many Bible Study groups and especially enjoyed meeting her friends for breakfast at Hardee's. Vera was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered for being a great cook.
Mrs. Usherwood was employed at St. Mary's Hospital and later for Hardee's at 30th & Broadway until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Tasker and her husband Ron of Artesia, N.M. and Judy Myers and her husband Gene of Quincy; three sons, Skip Usherwood and his wife Barb of Arlington, TX., Ronnie Usherwood and his wife Gayle of Houston, TX. and Steve Usherwood and his wife Karen of Artesia, N.M.; 10 grandchildren, Ronda Tasker, Kimberly Denton and her husband Jay, Shawn Usherwood and his wife Tracey, Chad Usherwood and his wife Marci, Brooke Anderson and her husband Bobby, Trudy Widmer and her husband Shane, Chrissy Cox and her husband Brian, Justin Myers and his wife Kristi, Angela Williams and her husband Ronnie and Travis Usherwood and his wife Mandi; 24 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Usherwood was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; three brothers, John Hanlin, Jim Hanlin and Delbert Hanlin; and four sisters, Mildred Phillips, Edna Shelton, Elizabeth Hanlin and Esther Hanlin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Ron Williams. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
