VERONA E. COLVIN

Mrs. Verona E. Colvin, 95, of 817 North 22nd, formerly of 207 Cherry, died at 2:00 a.m. Sunday (February 17, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.

Born August 4, 1912 in Quincy, Verona was the daughter of Carl H. and Mabel Grimmer Ellsworth. She married Walter E. "Jay" Colvin on August 31, 1931 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1984.

Verona enjoyed needlework, embroidery, cross stitch and caning chairs. She loved to cook and listen to music and was an avid reader who will be remembered for her sharp wit and knowledge.

Verona devoted her life to raising her family.

Survivors include a son, Joseph E. "Joe" Colvin and his wife Janet of Quincy; two daughters, Jeanette Shrader and Barbara Hagenbaumer and her husband Ed both of Quincy; six grandchildren, Jeff Shrader and his wife Anna of Burfordville, MO., Jennifer Shrader of LaGrange, GA., Cathy Hagenbaumer of Aurora, CO., Jason Hagenbaumer of Quincy, Joseph L. Colvin and his companion, Seiglinde Bracke of Stockholm, Sweden and Janese Pappas and her husband Tom of Arlington Heights, IL.; a nephew, Terry Ellsworth and his wife Karen; and three nieces, Rosemary Vaughn, Bonnie Skinner and Pat Ward.

Mrs. Colvin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; a son, Jay Lenne Colvin; a grandson, Edward "Ted" Hagenbaumer; a son in law, Hugh Shrader; two brothers, Harold G. Ellsworth and an infant brother Lloyd Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or Salem Church.
