
VIRGINIA F. DAVIS
Mrs. Virginia F. Davis, 95, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 925 Payson Ave., died at 5:05 p.m. Thursday (April 26, 2007) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born February 4, 1912 in Quincy, Virginia was the daughter of Louis and Alvena Obert Fleer. She married George W. Davis Jr. on August 2, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1983.
Virginia was active with the Neighborhood Federation and received the Theda Jansen Award in 2001. She also volunteered at Harrison Hills serving breakfast to the children for many years. She loved her family and especially loved to baby sit the grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzle books and listening to country music.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Smith and her husband Don of Quincy; two sons, Paul W. Davis and his wife Judy of Quincy and Gary L. Davis and his wife Gari of Taylor, MO.; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Elizabeth Wittner; a great grandson, Larry D. Smith Jr.; a brother, Wallace Fleer; five sisters, Ruth Vannatta, Edith Bumb, Leona Wyatt, Genevieve Hooge and Lillian Steinbrecher; and a son in law, Michael Wittner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Brother Ed Arambasich. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
