WARREN E. RICHARDS

Warren E. Richards, 88, of St. Vincent's Home, formerly of 2913 Spring St., died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday (December 21, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.

Born on September 8, 1920 in Gilmer Township, Adams, County, Warren was a son of Arthur and Esther McFarland Richards. He married Doris Kelley on August 14, 1943 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Warren was an active member of Columbus United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a board member. He loved to garden and listen to music. He was a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau and the former Adams County Health Improvement Association. He showed and raised Brown Swiss Cattle at the Illinois State Fair and many county fairs. Warren was a Past President of the Liberty PTA, a member of the Mendon Masonic Lodge #449 and also served on the Adams County Water District Board for several years.

Warren farmed all of his life in Gilmer and Columbus Townships. He was also a custodian for the Quincy Board of Education for over 20 years until his retirement in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, of Quincy; three daughters, Marilyn Marshall and her husband Roger of San Diego, CA, Barbara Heins and her husband Melvin of LaBelle, MO and Carolyn Zimmerman of Coatsburg, IL; eleven grandchildren, Greg Marshall and his wife Colleen of Temecula, CA, Debbie Forschen and her husband Kiun of Tracy, CA, Jeff Marshall and his wife Renee of Windsor, CA, Scott Marshall and his wife Melanie of Oceanside, CA, Jeannie Gordon and her husband Paul of Lees Summitt, MO, Kelley Jennings and her husband Neil of LaGrange, MO, Pam TenEycke and her husband Troy of Lewistown, MO, Sarah Miller and her husband Jim of Knox City, MO, Jayme Zimmerman of Golden, IL, Ashley Zimmerman of Coatsburg, IL and Katie Zimmerman of Coatsburg, IL; 19 great-grandhcildren; and a sister, Wilma Bruns and her husband Dale of Camp Point.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Gary Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
