MARY E. WASSON

Mrs. Mary E. Wasson, 72, of 1601 W. Granview, Quincy, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday (August 12, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 15, 1936 in Quincy, Mary was the daughter of Albert and Elisabeth Musholt Bastean. She married Lowell G. Wasson on May 7, 1955 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He survives.

Mary was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, walking and flower gardening and loved following her grandchildren's activities.

A 1954 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Mary was employed for 23 years in the Customer Service Department of Mercantile Bank. She retired in 1996.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell; two sons, Kent Wasson and his wife Constance of Pittsfield, IL and Keith Wasson and his wife Timothea of Quincy; two daughters, Karen Speckhart and her husband Bruce and Kathy Ginster and her husband Chris both of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Angela Szumski and her husband Randy, Regina Benner and her husband Brad, Kylee Wasson, Shanyn Speckhart, Evan Speckhart, Megan Ginster and Michelle Ginster; two step grandchildren, Amy Doellman and Allison Doellman; twin great granddaughters, Kelsey and Miranda Szumski; four brothers, Albert Bastean and his wife Mary Jo of Round Lake, IL, Robert Bastean and his wife Janet and Bernard Bastean and his wife Mary both of Quincy and Thomas Bastean of Pekin, IL; a sister, Florence Horman and her husband John of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wasson was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. A christian wake service will be Thursday afternoon at 4:00 in the funeral home.
