WILLIAM CHATTEN
Mr. William Chatten, 80, of 5134 N. 24th Street, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday (March 24, 2007).
Born May 2, 1926 in Quincy, Bill was the son of Frank W. and Adelaide P. Thomas Chatten. He married Betty Braungardt on December 30, 1950 in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Chatten was an active member of Ellington Memorial Presbyterian Church were he had served as the choir director and organist for many years. He was a member of the board of directors of Adams F.S., was an avid bridge player and horticulturist.
Mr. Chatten and his wife owned and operated the Chatten Orchard for over 32 years until his retirement.
Also surviving is a son, Frank Chatten and his wife Sandra of Quincy; two daughters, Diane Prenger and her husband Joe of Quincy and Janet Willand and her husband Dave of Eureka, MO.; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Jackson, Bonnie Chatten, Kimberly Chatten, Brian Prenger, Carrie Noble, Daniel Prenger, Ian Willand and Collin Willand; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce McKinley and her husband Donald of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Graham.
Cremation rites were accorded to Mr. Chatten. Memorial services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the Ellington Memorial Presbyterian Church by Rev. Joe Evers. Inurnment will be in Ellington Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
