
WILLIAM OREN IRVIN
Mr. William Oren Irvin, 99, of Sunset Home, formerly of 2236 Payson Ave., died at 7:18 p.m. Thursday (February 10, 2005) in Sunset Home.
Born July 1, 1905 in Loraine, Illinois, Oren was the son of William F. and Ida M. Mix Irvin. He married Rose Ann Terstegge Wall on August 10, 1968 in Quincy. She died June 16, 1974.
Oren was a member of St. Peters Church. He attended Loraine High School and graduated from Mendon High School in 1925. He joined the Civilian Conservation Camp in Park Ridge, Illinois in 1937. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #535 in Quincy and the Adams County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and dancing.
Mr. Irvin farmed all his life in the Loraine area retiring in 1968.
Surviving are two step sons, Harry Terstegge and his wife RoseAnn of Chiefland, FL. and Floyd Terstegge and his wife Janet of Quincy; three step daughters, Betty Wiewel and her husband Virgil, Wilma Wiewel, and Rosemary Peters and her husband Raymond, all of Quincy; 12 step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; several step great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Trautvetter of Loraine and Wilma Miller and her husband Gerald of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Irvin; two sisters, Anna Lucille Humphrey and Ruby Yackle; and two step grandchildren, Luci Cox and Charles Cox.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and 10:00 at St. Peters Church by Rev. Dan Bergbower. Burial will be in Loraine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held Monday evening at 5:00 at the funeral home.
