Mrs. Iola J. Achelpohl, 89, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2437 Sharon Dr., died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday (February 11, 2003) in Good Samaritan Home.

Born December 15, 1913 in Fowler, Mrs. Achelpohl was the daughter of Frank O. and Gertrude Ruggles Trout. She married Willis "Buzzy" Achelpohl on December 3, 1938 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died September 28, 1977.

Mrs. Achelpohl was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, a 60 year member of Alpha Chapter No. 109 Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron and Past President of the Past Matron's Club, Past President of the DeMolay Mother's Club, Past President of the Mother's Circle Rainbow Girls, where she was the recipient of the Grand Cross of Color, Abeba Temple #42, Past President of the Quincy Club Daughters of the Nile.

Mrs. Achelpohl worked for 30 years at the International Shoe Factory until their closing and then at Blessing Hospital until her retirement in 1979.

Surviving is a daughter, Trudy Aselman and her husband Edward Aselman II of Anderson, IN.; two sons, Roger Achelpohl and his wife Nan of Millington, TN. and Crayton Achelpohl and his wife Jan of Quincy; a step daughter, Marjorie Achilles of Loraine, IL.; five grandchildren, Edward Aselman III of Anderson, IN, Wendy Palmer and her husband Rick of Nashville, TN, Michele Achelpohl of Memphis, TN and Jessica Achelpohl and Mary Achelpohl both of Quincy; five step grandchildren, Lance Achelpohl and his wife Chris and Wayne Achelpohl and his wife Meredith all of Prosperity, S.C., Linda Niekamp and her husband David of Coatsburg, IL, Marsha Kendrick and her husband Rick of Quincy and Kenneth Starman Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Loraine; 14 step great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Rupert of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Achelpohl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a step son, Milton Achelpohl; and a sister, Mildred Turner.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. Alpha Chapter No. 109 O. E. S. will conduct services Friday evening at 7:00 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Salem Church or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
