MARGUERITE A. ALLAIN
 
Mrs. Marguerite A. Allain, 84, of 2502 Chestnut, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 in her home.

Born January 29, 1918 in Quincy, Marguerite was the daughter of Lawrence O. and Florence Holt Tenk. She married William F. Allain on August 28, 1943 in Quincy. He died March 22, 1992.

Marguerite was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Grace Whipple Chapter Order of Eastern Star and an Honorary Life Member of the Dewey School PTA. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening.

Marguerite was employed as a Junior Supervisor for Illinois Bell Telephone and served a term as Union Steward for the Communications Workers of America. She later stayed at home to raise her family.

Surviving are four daughters, Donna Allain of Marcelline, Carol Cress of Quincy, Patricia Woodworth and her husband William of Mendon and Candace Walker and her husband Kevin of Columbus; two granddaughters, Erica Cress, stationed with the U. S. Navy in Pensacola, FL. and Andrea Walker of Columbus; a brother, Lawrence Tenk and his wife Donna of Ottawa, KS.; four sisters, Jenny Gustison and her husband Herb and Judy Alcorn and her husband Dale all of Quincy, Shirley Sieb and her husband William of Edwardsville and Mary Sundeen of Chatham; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allain was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Dale Allain; two brothers, Theodore "Tedo" Tenk and Dale Tenk; and a sister, Geraldine Weedman.


Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Stephen Schuette. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Salem Church.
