| Mr. Daniel "Bill" Aman, 76 of 419 Noel Ct., died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday (February 28, 2002) in St. Johns
Hospital in Springfield. Born October 1, 1925 in Quincy, Bill was the son of Daniel and Darline Forbes Aman. He married Cora Morgan on March 16, 1946 in Quincy. She survives. Bill was an active member of Madison Park Christian Church, having served as an Elder and Youth Sponsor and as a leader for the Cub Scouts. Bill also was a member of Senior Sonshiners of church, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Elks Lodge #100 and the Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club. He was an avid sportsman and especially loved baseball, playing for many years and later coaching Little League Baseball. Bill and Cora loved to travel and spent many winters in Arizona and enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Q-City Squares Square Dance Club. Bill served his country with the U. S. Army 94th Infantry Division during WW II. He saw action in the European Theatre of Operations in France and Germany and was an escaped Prisoner of War. He was an expert rifleman and was awarded three Bronze Battle Stars, two Purple Hearts, the Oak Leaf Cluster, one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Aman was employed for 38 years at Gardner Denver Company. He retired in 1987. Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Taylor of Quincy and Peggy Johnson and her husband Larry of Quincy; a granddaughter, Sarah Huff of Quincy; a step grandson, Randy Johnson of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Aman was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lloyd Aman and Don Aman. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Keith Ehresman. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Madison Park Christian Church. |
