Mr. Raymond L. Anderson, 80, of the Timberpoint Health Care Center in Camp Point, formerly of Plainville, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday (March 1, 2003) in the home. Born May 5, 1922 in Clayton, Raymond was the son of John and Edith A. Schwartz Anderson. He was married to Dora Dyer. He married Vertie Sprague on January 23, 1965 in Quincy. She died on July 26, 1994. Mr. Anderson farmed in the Clayton and Liberty area before working at the Genteman Nursery and then as an elevator operator in the W. C. U. Building. He later worked for Bueters Bakery for 17 years until his retirement in 1975. Following his retirement, Mr. Anderson was the caretaker for the village of Plainville and mowed the Stewart Cemetery in Plainville. Mr. Anderson raised and broke horses and trained bird dogs which he then sold. He enjoyed using his metal detector and was a member of the Tri State Metal Detector Club. He also enjoyed going to flea markets and hunting. Surviving are two sons, Raymond G. "Jerry" Anderson and his wife Neila of Baylis and Thomas Anderson and his wife Debbie of Emmerson, MO.; two daughters, Mary "Kathy" Crim and her husband Harold of Payson and Cora King and her husband Buck of Lerona, W.VA.; nine grandchildren, Karrie Wolf and her husband Brian, Schanan Anderson, Beth Britt and her husband Jesse, Laurissa King, Timothy Wayne King and his wife Karen, Jason Anderson and his wife Elizabeth, Kristopher Crim and his wife Terri, Adam Anderson and Jeremy Anderson; six great grandchildren, Cole Anderson, Blake Wolf, Brock Wolf, Cassandra King, Payton Anderson and Dominick Xander; several step children and step grandchildren; a brother, Harold Anderson of Clayton; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, William Anderson; a sister, Mary Goertz; and a close friend, Glorine Hickerson. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Stewart Cemetery near Plainville by the Rev. Ron Cox. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson. Memorials may be made to the Illinois District Association of the Blind or the Illinois District Association of the Deaf. |
