Mrs. Mildred M. Bagley, 82, of 1823 Hampshire, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday (November 10, 2003) after suffering a massive stroke 9 days earlier. Born August 18, 1921 a daughter of Archibald and Grace Fuller Uppinghouse of Payson. She graduated high school there and married Albert K. Bagley on July 6, 1940. A graduate of Gem City Business College, Mom worked at the Quincy Courthouse for a few years, then served as secretary to three consecutive Superintendants of Quincy Public Schools, retiring after 35 years. "Millie" was past president of the Federated Business and Professional Club; Past Worthy Matron and Secretary of the Grace Whipple Chapter Order of Eastern Star; active in the Daughters of the Nile, Rainbow Girls, and Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Over the years she made many friends in our community, including those at Twin Oaks when she lived on the Quincy Bay. A special friend was Don McKinney who brought her joy these last 2 years. We will all miss Mother and remember her special wit and charitable nature. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Uppinghouse of Payson, and a sister, Thelma Uppinghouse McCabe of Mendon. She is survived by a son Ronald Bagley and his wife Elsie of Lytle, Texas; a grandson Justin Bagley of Dallas, Texas; a sister Naoma Hoener of Quincy and 10 nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express appreciation to Mary Leezer and the staff at Mary's Manor for their loving care of Millie, and to Donna Moller for her attention and care. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home. Grace Whipple Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #312 will conduct services at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society. |
