| Margaret A. "Sandy" Berry, 70, of 1614 Chestnut, died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday (October 2, 2001) at Blessing
Hospital. Born July 21, 1931 in Ft. Madison, IA., Margaret was the daughter of Carew and Pearl "Maggie" Ranck Sanders. Her father died when she was a small child and she was raised by her mother and stepfather Pear "MaGee" Martin. She married Charles Warner Berry of Deadwood, SD, in July of 1953 in Macomb, IL. He preceded her in death. She graduated from Macomb Senior High and attended Western Illinois University from 1949 to 1951 and Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis from 1951 until 1953. She also attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, SD. Margaret loved music, literature, journalism, antiques, horticulture, researching family genealogy, working on her computer, and attending auctions. She was employed at the Adams County Department of Public Aid from 1967 until her retirement as a supervisor in 1991. Professionally she served as chairman of the Adams County Interagency Coordinating Council in 1973-74 and on the Adams County Group for Interagency Development Illinois Welfare Association. Surviving are two sons, John "Jack" Berry and his wife Lillian of Fowler, IL., and Richard "Dick" Berry and his wife Jing of Plano, TX.; one daughter, Janet Kurjanski and her husband Paul of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Scott, Craig, and Adam Kurjanski, all of Quincy, Joshua Berry of Austin TX., Daniel Berry and his wife Erin of Korea, Elizabeth Berry of Fowler, Sam Berry of Plymouth and Clark Berry of Plano, TX. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and stepfather. Memorial services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. |
