FRED BETTISWORTH
Mr. Fred Bettisworth, 94, of Canton, MO., formerly of 1024 St. Charles, Quincy and rural Ewing, MO., died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday (April 17, 2001) in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, MO.

Mr. Bettisworth was born April 25, 1906, in Bowen, IL., the son of Clark and Emma Barnett Bettisworth. He was raised by foster parents Eliza Stephenson Durkee Garnett and Judge Barclay Garnett in Lewis County, MO. He married Oneta Childers on October 24, 1931, in Durham, MO. She died July 5, 1991.

Mr. Bettisworth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was employed there for many years. Prior to moving to Quincy he farmed near Ewing, MO. for 45 years. He enjoyed gardening and his roses.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Norman "Cherilyn" Williams of Canton, MO.; one grandson, Kerry Alan Williams of Canton, MO.; two foster children, Mrs. Arnold "Alice Anne" Gosney of Maywood, MO., and Jay Sharp of Winter Haven, FL.

Mr. Bettisworth was preceded in death by his wife; one infant granddaughter, Chanda Anne Williams; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. L.D. Grant. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery near LaGrange, MO.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Missionary Acres; Shepherdes Home (home for mentally challenged), or the Dover Cemetery.
