LOREN L. BOHANNAN
 

Mr. Loren L. Bohannan, 88, of the Sycamore Health Care Center, formerly of 1007 South 21st, died Tuesday (November 25, 2003) in Sycamore Health Care Center.

Born July 28, 1915 in Farmington, Illinois, Loren was the son of Claude and Pearl Bowman Bohannan. He married Margaret Gieselman on September 4, 1937 in Kahoka, Missouri. She died February 2, 1984. He married Gladys Klattenhoff Pfaffe on August 25, 1989 in Quincy. She died March 23, 1996.

Loren was a member of Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield and Quincy American Legion Post #37. Mr. Bohannan served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater, receiving four Bronze Battle Stars from campaigns in the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe.

Loren worked as a Security Guard for Mecantile Bank at 8th & Jersey for many years, retiring in 1991. He also played the drums for many years in the band of Junior Mussolino, Boots Mitchell, Jim Delabar and the Heidelberg Band.

Survivors include a sister, Gladys Mutz of Quincy; a half brother, Lester Bohannan of Farmington, Illinois; and step children, Ron Pfaffe, Tom Pfaffe and Shirley Voorhis and their families.

Mr. Bohannan was preceded in death by his parents; and his wives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Parkview Church, Quincy Humane Society or the Sycamore Health Care Center.
