Mrs. Marjorie M. Bohnenkamp, 80, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 1714 Granview Drive, died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday (September 26, 2002) in Sunset Home. Born April 6, 1922 in Gorman, South Dakota, Marjorie was the daughter of Frank and Minnie Gast Klocke Sr. She was married to Darrell Cockrum who preceded her in death. Marjorie was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was a Charter Member of the Marian Sunday School Class, the A. B. W. Circle and she served as head of the Social Committee of the church. She was also a member and Past President of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Quincy Women's Club, and was a supporter of the Quincy Humane Society. Marjorie worked as a waitress for the Lincoln Douglas Hotel, The Cuckoo Clock, and the Small Fry Diners before opening her own Coffee Shops at 36th & Broadway and 8th & Jersey. She retired after many years of operating the coffee shop in the Adams County Courthouse. Marjorie enjoyed cooking and helping others and was well known for her homemade soup. Surviving is a son, Gene Cockrum and his wife Mary Lou of Mendon; three grandchildren, Warren Shane Cockrum of Quincy, Sheri Lynn Cockrum of Springfield, IL., and Gina Lea Cockrum of Tampa, FL.; a brother, Frank Klocke Jr. and his wife Lydia Lynn of Leonard, MO.; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Mahla and Barbara Klocke both of Quincy and Sandra Miller of Tucson, AZ.; an Aunt, Elsie Wiemerslage of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bohnenkamp was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother and sister in infancy. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Baker. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence, Missouri. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Quincy Humane Society or
Central Baptist Church. |
