Mr. Billy E. "Bill" Bornman, 78, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 1411 Jackson, died at 10:45 p.m. Friday (January 30, 2004) at the Veterans Home.

Born January 4, 1926 in Quincy, Mr. Bornman was the son of William Fred and Alice M. Schuette Bornman. He married Barbara B. Tournear on June 30, 1967 in Salem Church. She survives.

Mr. Bornman served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, was a Past Exaulted Ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 100, a Past President of the Traffic Club, and a member of Twin Oaks Club. He had been active with the Quincy Masonic Order and was a former member of the Quincy Shrine Club and South Side Boat Club. Bill also was a softball pitcher for many years, playing throughout Illinois, Missouri and Iowa.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Bill attended Quincy College before beginning his career as traffic manager and sales manager with Monogram Industries. Following their closing, Mr. Bornman was a salesman with the Chrysler dealership in Quincy until his retirement. He later worked part time with the Quincy Herald Whig and Super Wash Car Wash.

Survivors include his wife Barbara; two daughters, Billie Ann Bornman and her significant other, Robin Holtman of Quincy and Missy Bornman of St. Louis, MO.; a sister, Marsha Akers and her husband Stephen of Quincy; two nephews, Chad Akers and Aron Akers; a niece, Alice Ann Courson and her husband Jason; and three aunts, Viola Slaughter, Irma Laaker and Velma Bornman all of Quincy.

Mr. Bornman was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev.Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Elks Lodge No. 100 will conduct services Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Salem Church.
