LAWRENCE W. "LARRY" BOSTER
 

Mr. Lawrence W. "Larry" Boster, 81, of 1631 York, died at 5:55 a.m.
Friday (November 5, 2004) at the Centegra Memorial Medical Center in
Woodstock, IL.

Born July 7, 1923 in Quincy, Larry was the son of Lawrence W. and
Lillian Bauner Bastert. He married Marilon "Lonnie" McReynolds on June 5,
1948 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Boster was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School. He attended
Boston College and graduated from Quincy College in 1946. He served in the
26th Yankee Division during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He was
a member of the Quincy American Legion Post # 37 and Luther Memorial Church
serving on the Church Council for many years. He was past president of Good
Samaritan Home. He was a member of Lambert Masonic Lodge #659, Quincy
Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, past president of Quincy
Shrine Club and the Quincy High Twelve Club. He was a former Member of
Spring Lake Country Club, Quincy School Board, Adams County Historical
Society, and Quincy Park Band Board. He was active in the Boy Scout Program
for many years and a board member of the Quincy Chapter American Red Cross.

Mr. Boster retired from Blessing Hospital and the former Quincy Clinic
after 40 years as chief medical technologist.

Larry loved his family, his city and his country. He was well known as
a person who gave freely of his time, always volunteering and never saying
no. He will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him in all his
volunteer endeavors. His greatest joys were Blue Devil Basketball, his
children, and especially his grandchildren, of whom he was very proud.

Also surviving is a daughter, Beth Boster of Quincy; three sons, David
Boster and his wife Donna of Quincy, Drew Boster and his wife Mary of
Moline, IL., and Rev. Mark Boster and his wife Annette of Huntley, IL.; ten
grandchildren, Jennifer Boster, Katherine Boster, and Megan Boster, all of
Quincy, Andrew Boster of Texas, Eric Boster and Blake Boster both of Moline,
IL., and Zachary Boster, Seth Boster, Jonathan Boster, and Grace Boster, all
of Huntley, IL.; and one aunt, Amelia Bauner of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Betty Long.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at Luther
Memorial Church by Rev. Leland Uden. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the
Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from
9:30 until the time of services at the church. Lambert Masonic Lodge #659
will conduct Masonic Services Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral
Home.

Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church.
