MARY C. "CORKY" BOYER
 
Mrs. Mary C. "Corky" Boyer, 79, of Auburn, IN., formerly of Quincy and Payson, died at 10:00 a.m. Sunday (March 10, 2002) in Auburn, IN.

Born July 19, 1922 in Quincy, Mary was the daughter of Harvey J. and Ivy P. McMullen Hecteman. She married Joseph M. Boyer on December 30, 1950 in Quincy. He survives.

Mary was a former member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Adams County Home Extension, and a volunteer at Blessing Hospital. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Gem City Business College.

Mary was employed as a secretary for the Navy Department in Washington D.C. during WWII. She then attended the University of Illinois for three years and became employed as a secretary to the credit manager at Famous Barr in St. Louis, MO. Later she was employed at Quincy Peoples Savings and Loan and then as a receptionist and secretary at Bertoglio, Middendorf and Bennett Accounting Firm for several years until her retirement in 1981. She and her husband moved to Clinton, MO. where she worked as a receptionist for a cable company and a dental office. They returned to Quincy in 1988.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Boyer of Auburn, IN., and Patrick Boyer and his wife Cheryl of Bloomington, IL.; ten grandchildren, Shelby Boyer of Quincy, Andrew Rice, Kirby Rice and Jessica Suzanne Boyer all of Auburn, IN., Amy Goellner and her husband Michael of Warren, MO., Adam Porter of Quincy, and James P. Boyer, Jason R. Boyer, Tyler J Boyer, and Brian M. Boyer all of Bloomington, IL.; and three great grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Goellner and Nicole Goellner both of Warren, MO. and Mackenzie Daniels of Quincy.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Christopher Boyer.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held Wednesday at 6:00 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
